I help companies hire exceptional talent in Latin America. My journey took me from growing up in a small town in Ohio to building teams at Capital One, Meta, and eventually Rappi, for which I moved from Silicon Valley to Colombia and had to recruit a local tech team from scratch. That’s where I realized traditional recruiting was broken, and how much available potential there was in Latin American talent. Almost ten years later, I still work closely with Latin American professionals, both for my company and for clients. They know US business culture, speak great English, work in the same time zones, and bring strong skills and dedication at a better cost. We have helped companies like Rappi, Globant, Capital One, Google, and IBM build their teams with top talent from the region.

Hire SDRs, BDRs, account executives, sales managers, and remote closers from Latin America.

Lupa screens candidates for sales performance, outbound ability, professional English, CRM discipline, and alignment with your sales cycle. You receive a focused shortlist from a senior recruiter, not a stack of loosely matched resumes.

Sales Roles We Recruit in Latin America

Lupa recruits individual contributors and sales leaders based on your sales motion, customer, territory, and growth stage.

1. Sales Development Representatives

Build prospect lists, run outbound sequences, qualify early interest, and create meetings for account executives.

2. Business Development Representatives

Open new accounts, develop target territories, and build relationships with potential buyers and partners.

3. Account Executives

Run discovery, manage opportunities, present solutions, negotiate terms, and close new business.

4. Account Managers

Retain customers, identify expansion opportunities, coordinate renewals, and strengthen client relationships.

5. Sales Managers

Coach representatives, inspect pipeline, improve forecasting, and establish a repeatable sales process.

6. Enterprise Sales Executives

Manage longer sales cycles, multiple stakeholders, complex negotiations, and high-value commercial relationships.

When Hiring Sales Talent Matters

You may need a dedicated sales hire when:

  1. Your founder still handles every important sales conversation.
  2. Qualified leads wait too long for follow-up.
  3. Pipeline exists, but forecasting remains unreliable.
  4. Your team depends too heavily on inbound opportunities.
  5. You are entering a new market, industry, or customer segment.
  6. Existing closers spend too much time prospecting instead of advancing deals.

The right profile depends on your company stage.

An early-stage company may need a versatile seller who can work beside the founder and help define the sales process. A scaling business may need separate prospecting and closing roles. An agency may prioritize relationship development and account growth, while an enterprise sales team may need someone experienced with longer cycles and multiple decision-makers.

Choose the Market Based on Your Sales Motion

The right location depends on the customer, territory, language requirements, sales cycle, and level of local market knowledge the role requires.

Mexico may be relevant for commercial roles that require Spanish-language selling, regional market knowledge, and relationship development with local buyers.

Colombia may be relevant for SDR, BDR, inside-sales, account-development, and customer-facing teams that need structured processes and time-zone alignment with the United States.

However, the country should not be the only selection factor. Lupa also evaluates:

  1. The buyer and industry
  2. Average deal size
  3. Sales-cycle length
  4. Inbound versus outbound responsibilities
  5. Required languages
  6. Territory ownership
  7. CRM and reporting expectations

Receive a Curated Sales Shortlist in Five Business Days

Day 1: Define the Sales Role

We clarify the sales motion, customer, territory, responsibilities, compensation expectations, and required experience. Together, we turn those requirements into a candidate scorecard.

Day 2: Run a Targeted Search

A senior recruiter maps relevant talent across Latin America and contacts active and passive candidates whose backgrounds match the agreed profile.

Days 3 and 4: Evaluate Candidates

We assess candidates against the scorecard, including sales performance, communication, prospecting experience, deal exposure, CRM discipline, and compensation expectations.

Day 5: Deliver the Shortlist

You receive a focused shortlist of 3 to 4 candidates with relevant experience, key achievements, expectations, and recruiter observations. We explain how each person compares with the criteria agreed at the beginning of the search.

What Lupa Looks for in Sales Candidates

1. Evidence of Sales Performance

Strong candidates can explain their quota, attainment, average deal size, sales-cycle length, and personal contribution to results.

2. Disciplined Qualification

They can explain why an opportunity belongs in the pipeline and when a deal should be disqualified.

3. Outbound Ability

They know how to identify target accounts, plan outreach, follow up consistently, and generate opportunities without depending entirely on inbound leads.

4. Consultative Selling

They ask questions that uncover the buyer’s problem, priorities, decision process, urgency, and commercial constraints.

5. Objection Handling

They respond to pricing and product concerns without immediately offering a discount.

6. CRM and Forecast Discipline

They keep stages, next steps, risks, and close dates current so leadership can trust the forecast.

7. Sales-Motion Alignment

Their background matches the role you need, whether that involves high-volume prospecting, account expansion, transactional closing, or longer enterprise sales cycles.

Sales Behaviors That Matter

Commercial Judgment

Knows when to advance, disqualify, escalate, or walk away from an opportunity.

Active Listening

Understands the buyer’s situation before recommending a solution or delivering a pitch.

Coachability

Applies feedback to discovery, outreach, objection handling, and deal strategy.

Resilience

Maintains consistent prospecting and follow-up through rejection, slow periods, and delayed decisions.

Ownership

Keeps commitments, next steps, CRM records, and internal stakeholders current without repeated reminders.

Curiosity

Asks questions that reveal business pain, buying criteria, decision-makers, urgency, and risk.

Sales Hire Skills

Pipeline Management and CRM Discipline

Keeps deal stages, next steps, and forecasts current in the CRM so leadership always has an accurate read on the pipeline.

Outbound Prospecting and Territory Planning

Builds and works a target list systematically rather than waiting on inbound, and prioritizes the accounts most likely to close.

Consultative Discovery and Qualification

Runs discovery that uncovers real pain and budget, and can explain in one sentence why a deal is or is not qualified.

Negotiation and Deal Closing

Handles objections and pricing pressure without defaulting to a discount, and knows when to hold firm and when to flex.

Sales Forecasting and Reporting

Gives an honest, defensible forecast, not an optimistic one, and flags risk to a deal before it becomes a surprise.

Professional English and Cross-Border Communication

Communicates confidently with United States buyers and internal teams while adapting to the customer, territory, and cultural context of the sale. Add Spanish or Portuguese fluency when the target market requires it.

Common Mistakes When Hiring Sales Talent

1. Prioritizing the Lowest Salary

Hiring in Latin America can create a favorable cost position, but the lowest offer may not attract or retain candidates with a strong performance history. Use the budget advantage to improve candidate quality rather than lowering the role’s expectations.

2. Copying a United States Compensation Plan Without Validation

Base salary, commission, bonuses, quotas, and payment timing should reflect the position and candidate market. Validate the structure before starting interviews so strong candidates do not leave the process at the offer stage.

3. Treating Latin America as One Sales Market

The right location depends on the role, buyer, industry, territory, and required language. Define the sales motion before selecting a country.

4. Overselling the Territory or Earnings

Be honest about lead flow, average deal size, cycle length, quota, territory maturity, and commission conditions. Candidates who enter with realistic expectations are more likely to remain engaged after joining.

5. Accepting Titles Without Performance Evidence

Ask candidates to explain their quota, attainment, personal contribution, average deal size, sales cycle, and outbound responsibilities. A recognizable employer or senior title does not prove that the candidate can perform in your environment.

What to Define Before Starting the Search

A strong sales search begins with a clear description of the role and the environment in which the candidate will sell.

Before sourcing begins, define:

  1. The product or service being sold
  2. The ideal customer and decision-maker
  3. The target market and territory
  4. Inbound and outbound responsibilities
  5. Average deal size and sales-cycle length
  6. Quota and performance expectations
  7. Base salary and variable compensation
  8. Required industry experience
  9. CRM and reporting responsibilities
  10. Language and time-zone requirements

Lupa helps turn these details into a practical candidate profile and evaluation scorecard before the search begins.

How Lupa Evaluates Sales Candidates

Candidates should answer consistent, role-specific questions so their evidence can be compared against the same hiring criteria.

Sample questions include:

  1. Walk me through your quota, attainment, average deal size, and sales-cycle length in your most recent role.
  2. Describe an opportunity you disqualified and explain why you removed it from your pipeline.
  3. Tell me about a deal you forecast incorrectly and what you changed afterward.
  4. Walk me through your outbound process, from account selection to follow-up.
  5. Role-play a prospect asking for a discount before agreeing on the value of the solution.

Lupa evaluates the specificity of the answer, the candidate’s personal contribution, commercial judgment, communication, and relevance to your sales motion.

Why Companies Choose Lupa for Sales Hiring

Senior Recruiter Ownership

A senior recruiter runs the search from role definition through shortlist delivery. The process does not depend on a junior generalist screening candidates from a broad applicant pool.

Sales-Specific Role Calibration

We define the sales motion, buyer, territory, deal size, sales cycle, performance expectations, and required experience before sourcing begins.

Targeted Regional Sourcing

We search across Latin America based on the needs of the position rather than treating the region as one interchangeable candidate market.

Evidence-Based Candidate Evaluation

Candidates are assessed using role-specific evidence, including quota history, attainment, prospecting experience, deal exposure, CRM discipline, and communication.

Focused Shortlists

You receive 3 to 4 candidates who match the agreed criteria, along with context on their experience, achievements, expectations, and potential concerns.

Client Control

Lupa runs the search and evaluation process, but your team makes the final interview and hiring decisions.

What You Receive With Each Candidate Profile

Each shortlisted candidate profile should give your team enough context to decide who deserves an interview.

Depending on the role and available evidence, the profile may include:

  1. Relevant sales and industry experience
  2. Quota and attainment history
  3. Average deal size and sales-cycle exposure
  4. Outbound and inbound responsibilities
  5. Territory and buyer experience
  6. Professional English assessment
  7. Compensation expectations
  8. Location and availability
  9. Alignment with the candidate scorecard
  10. Recruiter observations and areas to verify
