Frequently Asked Questions
How does Lupa's payment model work?
We operate on a simple success fee model. You only pay when you hire a candidate we present. Our fee is 15% of the annual salary – more competitive than the industry standard of 20%. We keep it straightforward with the same fee for everyone because we value long-term partnerships over maximizing short-term profits.
How does your hiring process work?
We specialize in remote roles. With our recruiting service, you handle the hiring process, while we deliver pre-vetted candidates within a week. With our staffing service, Lupa takes care of contracts and payments, while you focus on managing your team. If the first match isn’t perfect, we iterate until we find the right fit.
What guarantee do you offer if a candidate doesn't work out?
We provide a 120-day replacement guarantee. If any candidate leaves or doesn't meet your standards within 120 days of hiring, we'll replace them at no additional cost. We prioritize finding candidates with long-term commitment, but if something doesn't work out, we take full responsibility and treat replacements as urgent priorities.
How do you handle contracts and payments for remote employees in Latin America?
We work with your preferred model. Whether you're using an Employer of Record (EOR), hiring contractors, or looking for a staffing solution, we adapt to your needs. We'll explain the pros and cons of each approach for different countries – for example, Colombia has more favorable EOR costs than Brazil, and contractor arrangements work well in Costa Rica. Our goal is to find what works best for both you and the candidate.
How does Lupa help North American companies hire Latin American talent?
We leverage our regional expertise to connect businesses with highly qualified professionals from Latin America, ensuring a seamless and efficient hiring process.
What makes Lupa different from other recruitment agencies in Latin America?
Our founder Joseph comes from a technical background (former engineer at Capital One and Product Manager at Facebook) who built the engineering team at Rappi, Latin America's largest startup. This means we understand both sides of the equation – what companies need technically and how to find the right talent. We're tech-native from day one, focused on quality over quantity, and we genuinely care about long-term fits rather than quick placements.
What industries do you specialize in?
We specialize in the technology industry, covering roles such as developers, designers, as well as positions in finance, accounting, marketing and sales.
How do you evaluate technical skills and English proficiency?
We conduct thorough technical evaluations based on your specific requirements. Our technical recruiters are trained to ask probing questions that reveal genuine expertise versus rehearsed answers. For language skills, we ensure all candidates are fully bilingual and comfortable in professional English environments. We specifically look for candidates who have prior experience working with US-based companies to ensure cultural compatibility.
